Edwardian Upgrade – Upgrading an existing Edwardian 3 storey house for modern living and a growing family.
What the client wanted
This family sought to improve how they used their narrow period property. They wanted an open plan family space with better access to the garden, whilst improving the existing loft bedrooms for their children to make their own.
Our idea
We made the rear aspect of the property wider by building both to the rear and the side. This way we could overcome the narrowness of the existing kitchen and create an opportunity to lower the rear ground floor to connect directly to the garden. We extended the views of the garden using glazing into the roof shape. We also created a discreet covered bike wash area while respecting the scale of the existing Edwardian property.
